This week, the MiniDigiHub team rolled into Bangor, Northern Ireland with our Mobile Digital Lab (MDL), delivering a packed programme of hands-on digital experiences at the Signal Centre in partnership with Ards and North Down Borough Council.
The MDL was deployed as part of a multi-day digital transformation event, showcasing how immersive and emerging technologies can support local councils, businesses and communities. Across several sessions, participants explored practical applications of AI, AR, Virtual Reality, Cyber security and DTFF Funding — all delivered directly onsite inside our fully mobile digital learning space.
Over the course of the week, we worked with a wide mix of audiences including council staff, tourism professionals and SME’s. Highlights included immersive VR tourism demonstrations, practical AI sessions for business use cases and a cyber security awareness workshop designed to help organisations navigate modern digital risks. We also hosted a Digital Transformation Flexible Fund (DTFF) session that encouraged participants to explore funding for transforming business using digital technology.
A special moment during the visit was welcoming Gillian McCollum, Mayor of Bangor, who took time to experience the Mobile Digital Lab first-hand. Her visit highlighted the growing importance of accessible, community-focused digital innovation and the role mobile infrastructure can play in reaching new audiences.
The Bangor deployment once again demonstrated the flexibility and impact of the Mobile Digital Lab model. By bringing cutting-edge tools directly to local communities, we’re helping bridge digital gaps and create meaningful engagement with emerging technologies — whether that’s through immersive learning, practical upskilling or creative exploration.
A huge thank you to Niall and Louise from Ards and North Down Borough Council for their partnership and support in making this event a success. We’re excited to continue bringing the MDL to new locations and helping more communities explore what’s possible when digital innovation comes to their doorstep.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Mobile Digital Lab continues its journey across the region.
