MDL on the Move – A Month of Innovation, Learning and Community Impact
March has been another busy and inspiring month for the Mobile Digital Lab (MDL) as it continued its mission of bringing digital innovation directly to communities across the East Border Region.
From student enterprise competitions to community training days and enterprise workshops, the MDL has been helping people of all ages explore emerging technologies and build confidence in digital skills.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators
The MDL had a strong presence at several Student Enterprise events, including the Meath and Louth Student Enterprise Awards. These events showcased the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of young people, while giving students the chance to experience cutting-edge technology such as virtual reality and immersive digital tools.
By bringing the Mobile Digital Lab directly to these competitions, students were able to explore how digital technologies can support business ideas, product development and creative storytelling.

Supporting Entrepreneurs During Local Enterprise Week
Another highlight of the month was the MDL’s participation in Monaghan Local Enterprise Week, where a series of practical digital innovation workshops were delivered to entrepreneurs and small businesses.
These sessions demonstrated how technology can support business growth — from immersive tools and digital design to practical demonstrations of how emerging technology can be used in real-world applications.
For many participants, it was their first opportunity to experience these technologies first-hand.

Connecting Communities Through Digital Skills
One of the most rewarding events took place in Clones, where the Mobile Digital Lab supported a “Mobile Made Easy” community training day.
This intergenerational event brought together community members eager to improve their digital confidence — from learning basic smartphone skills to exploring new online tools. The event highlighted how technology can bring people together and empower communities through learning.

Bringing Innovation on the Road
The Mobile Digital Lab continues to prove that innovation doesn’t need to be confined to urban tech centres. By travelling directly to schools, community venues and business events, the MDL ensures that access to modern digital tools and training is available to everyone, regardless of location.
Equipped with technologies such as virtual reality, high-performance computers and creative digital platforms, the MDL is helping communities experience the possibilities of the digital economy in a hands-on and engaging way. (Mini Digi Hub)

Looking Ahead
With more events planned across the region, the Mobile Digital Lab will continue to support students, businesses and communities in developing the skills and confidence needed to thrive in a digital world.
