The Mobile Digital Lab (MDL) recently supported Monaghan Local Enterprise Week with a series of practical digital workshops delivered at the MTEK Building. The event brought together local entrepreneurs, SMEs and business leaders to explore how emerging technologies can support business growth and digital transformation.
Organised by Clair McKenna and the Team from Monaghan LEO the event formed part of the Nationwide Local Enterprise Week programme which provides training, networking and mentoring opportunities for small businesses across Ireland.
Throughout the day, participants took part in a range of interactive sessions designed to help businesses better understand and adopt digital tools. Workshops delivered by the MDL team included Artificial Intelligence for Tourism, Podcasting for Marketing, Virtual Reality Applications and Advanced Cybersecurity.
The AI For Tourism workshop explored how businesses can integrate generative AI tools into everyday operations, from automating workflows and improving customer service to generating content and analysing business data specially for the Tourism sector.
In the Podcasting session, attendees learned how audio content can become a powerful marketing and communication channel. The workshop covered planning a podcast, recording techniques, equipment options and how businesses can use podcasting to build authority and reach new audiences.
The Virtual Reality workshop gave participants the opportunity to experience immersive technologies using VR headsets and explore real-world applications for training, marketing and product demonstrations. Businesses were able to see first-hand how VR can create engaging experiences for customers and staff alike.
The day also featured a session on Advanced Cybersecurity, focusing on the evolving threat landscape facing SMEs. Participants learned about common cyber threats, practical protection strategies and how to build stronger security practices within their organisations.
Events like this highlight the growing importance of digital capability for local businesses. With technology evolving rapidly, programmes such as Local Enterprise Week provide valuable opportunities for SMEs to gain practical skills, discover new tools and connect with support organisations that can help them innovate and grow.
The workshops in Monaghan demonstrated the strong appetite among local businesses to explore emerging technologies such as AI, immersive media and digital content creation. Through hands-on learning and expert guidance, participants left with a clearer understanding of how these technologies can be applied in their own organisations.
The MDL team would like to thank Clair McKenna, the Local Enterprise Office Monaghan team and all participating businesses for making the event such a success. It was an inspiring day of collaboration, innovation and practical learning for the Monaghan business community.
