Community, industry and public sector leaders came together in Bleary on April 24th, 2026, for a dynamic Technology Showcase Event powered by the Mobile Digital Lab (MDL). Hosted at Bleary Business & Community Centre in partnership with ABC Council, the event highlighted how mobile technology can break down barriers and bring cutting-edge digital experiences directly to local communities.

From the moment the MDL unit arrived and expanded into a fully equipped digital hub, it became a focal point for collaboration, curiosity and hands-on learning and was supported by a visit from Alderman Stephen Moutray Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council along with Vice Chairman of EBR Tim Mc Clelland.

A Space Designed for Engagement

Throughout the day, several interactive workshop sessions welcomed participants, including council officers, project board members, SMEs and community organisations. The structured format allowed small groups to rotate through experiences, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to engage deeply with the technology.

Hands-On Technology Experiences

Participants explored a wide range of emerging technologies through guided demonstrations and practical activities:

  • Virtual & AI Reality: Attendees stepped into immersive environments, experiencing first-hand how VR and AI Glasses can be used for training, education, and storytelling.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Discussions and demos highlighted how AI is shaping industries and creating new opportunities for businesses and communities.

Looking Ahead

The Bleary Technology Showcase Event is another strong example of how mobile digital infrastructure can support innovation, inclusion and skills development at a local level.

As feedback is gathered and new opportunities emerge, the MDL continues to prove its value as a flexible, scalable solution for bringing digital experiences directly to the communities that need them most. Thanks to Elaine and Orla for all their help on the day – looking forward to the next visit.
