A Beacon of Digital Transformation demonstrating the value of IoT Solutions
The Comber Mini-Digi Hub brings together smart technology, sustainability, and community innovation. The hub will integrate Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, renewable energy systems, and energy-efficient upgrades to improve operational efficiency. Real-time data from the building will be visualised through interactive dashboards, helping visitors understand how smart systems can improve efficiency and lower environmental impact.
This project is funded through PEACEPLUS a Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Before
After
IoT (The Internet of Things) is a recognised emerging technology within Digital Transformation. It refers to a network of physical devices—such as sensors or appliances which are embedded with software and connectivity that enables them to collect and exchange data. These smart devices communicate with each other and with centralised systems over a network, allowing for automation of live data, remote monitoring, and intelligent decision-making.
The centre will monitor several GDPR compliant metrics in real time such as:
Live people counting
Humidity, light, temperature readings
Water leak sensors
Sound levels
Electric consumption
Oil consumption
Air quality readings
By showcasing this new Centre as a beacon of digital transformation, the centre will provide a means to demonstrate the value of IoT to not just the users of the centre, but to business owners and local residents. This digital transformation discipline is transforming industry and through the Mini Digi Hub project the Comber Digi Hub will be recognised as an exemplar site in the adoption of such innovative technology. Through the Mini Digi Hub project there will be a programme of supports that not just showcase the Comber Digi Hub as a best practice example of IoT and Digital Transformation, but will provide workshops, masterclasses and mentoring to users of the community centre, businesses and the local community. It will apply IoT solutions to add value to existing and future users of the centre and will host events that are responsive to the needs of the local community
